Visit to the Blue Mountains

While we are living in Australia, our priority is to travel and see as much as we can of this part of the planet. But, Australia is a huge country that's also far away from a lot of neighboring countries. So, a long holiday weekend is a great opportunity to see a part of Australia that's closer to home. Sydney is about and hour and a half drive from the Blue Mountains. It's on our list of places to go so that's where we decided to go for the long Easter weekend.

The Blue Mountains consists of a huge national park along with numerous other attractions and activities in the area. We were only there for a couple days so we tried to fit in a couple of long hikes, a visit to the Three Sisters rock formation, and a nice lunch in Leura.

We arrived to the Blue Mountains in the morning and headed out for our first hike on the Princes Rock trail in the Wentworth Falls area.

After a morning hike on the Princes Rock trail, we decided to drive to see the famed Three Sisters rock formation.

After paying the requisite visit to the Three Sisters, we headed into the town of Leura for lunch and a little stroll through the lovely little town. Leura is a charming little town with nice restaurants, cafes and shops.

The next day we headed back to Wentworth Falls to tackle the longer Wentworth Pass trail. The views along the trail are just spectacular. View some of the photos in the gallery below. Two days in the Blue Mountains just makes us realize that we need to go back to spend some more time there, hike a few more trails and explore more of the area.
